Anyway, these have both been 9 - 10/10 games for me and I think Blooodborne is creeping into my top 10 games of all time. Playing through both Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne have been thrilling experiences, probably unparalleled in the way in which they establish their atmosphere so strongly in their games, mostly done without music mind you. Let me just preface this entire thread into saying that having recently gotten into the Soulsborne series within the past year, and grabbing Bloodborne with the PS+ offer, I have grown to love the atmosphere and combat system that the game's offer. Maybe you already know that stuff but I hope it helps in some way, sucks you like the game but haven't explored past the first zone.

If you dodge during the period where you're invincible you still won't take damage even if it looks like an attack connected, and by dodging towards the enemy you're set up to immediately counter-attack. A lot of the time new players will dodge away from attacking enemies to play it safe, but often it's actually better to dodge INTO an attack. The other big thing is abusing the dodge mechanic, you're completely invincible while doing the short dash you can do while locked on to an enemy. A lot of fights are actually easier if you play more aggressively since you'll be earning more health back. Whenever you take damage you have a short window where you can regain it by dealing damage. To some extent you need to be careful and observe enemies to attack when it's safe, but one of the main mechanics that separates Bloodborne from Dark Souls is the health recovery system. Didn't you kind of assume that there would be weapons based on the box art, or the screenshots of the game on the PSN page, or even your knowledge of other action/ adventure games?įWIW Bloodborne isn't actually meant to be played slowly and patiently.
